Lessons from a puppet

Children
gathered Monday, June 29, at the Clarion Free Library to see puppeteer Steve
Abrams perform a variety of acts, including Aesop’s Fables. Kids cheered and
laughed as they learned manners, morals, and even how to be a puppeteer. While
every audience member was actively involved in the show, some kids even got to
man the puppets in front of the crowd. Abrams has worked in over 500 libraries
in
Pennsylvania
and
New Jersey
and has 25 years experience
as a puppeteer.

Keystone adopts budget with no tax increase

Committee updates Knox residents

South Fifth Avenue
in Clarion Borough. The
work is improving the handicapped access to the sidewalks. Glenn O. Hawbaker is
the contractor doing the work. The curb improvements needed to be done before

Clarion County Sewage Association says it’s out of cash
By Greg V. Renninger, Clarion News Writer CLARION - The Clarion County Sewage Association has
distributed a notice to member municipalities saying “Local agencies were
never informed of a deficit and since DEP has not paid grant reimbursement
monies due for 2008, we have no operating funds.”

Walk for Life

Music kept spirits high at and the walkers showed it by clapping along with
the beat at the American Cancer Society’s Walk for Life June 27 at the
Clarion-Limestone athletic field. The weather was perfect for the event which
raises money for cancer research.

$2.6 million in stimulus money targets housing project

for federal stimulus funding to the tune of $2.6 million, but details are

The
first five classic Volkswagens lined up at the VW Cruise June 27 in the Clarion
BiLo parking lot. This is the second annual area VW cruise organized by Dave
Runyan of Strattanville. Twenty-eight cars showed up for the cruise that started
at 12:30 Saturday afternoon and ran through Brookville and Cook Forest before
stopping at the home of Harry Hollis, where cruisers were treated to a picnic
and a performance by the band “Jar of Ashes.”
