General News Beaver Township looks to adopt sewage plan
BEAVER TWP. - The proposed treatment plant will provide public sewage
treatment for residents of the Wentlings Corners area. Connection to the system will be mandatory for properties
within a certain distance from the service lines and projected monthly bills are
$91. The estimated rate is based on projected loan funding from
Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority. The township prepared a joint Act 537 plan update with Knox
Borough through the EADS Group Inc. engineering company of Clarion to study a
wastewater treatment plant upgrade which will increase the hydraulic and organic
capacity to 0.6 million gallons per day and 1,501 pounds per day of biological
oxygen demand. The plan also called for the examination of the existing
wastewater collection system. The area impacted includes the existing sewer service area
and the area adjacent to the existing wastewater treatment plant. The plan’s major recommendation involves the construction
of new wastewater treatment plant, replacement of existing wastewater collection
system and extension of services to the Wentlings Corners portion of The proposed township sewage service area will include
lines along State Route 338 from Knox to the Wentlings Corners area, including
south to the Interstate 80 interchange, along Final approval of the plan
by both the township and Knox Borough will clear the way for the
municipalities to form a joint sewage authority which would oversee the
construction and operation of an upgraded and expanded sewage collection and
treatment system. Comments on the proposed plan from anyone interested in the
project will be received in
