Paint Township sells truck, offers land
By Tom DiStefano, Clarion News Writer

MARIANNE - Paint Township managed to sell one of two trucks and now has a little piece of real estate for sale.

Supervisors voted April 14 to accept an offer of $40,000 from Beaver Township , Jefferson County for the 2006 Ford F-550 with plow and stainless steel spreader.

The other truck is a 1983 International 10-ton dump truck with plow and spreader unit.

Supervisors last month rejected offers of $28,000 for the 2006 Ford and $2,050 for the 1983 International.

Supervisor Randy Vossburg suggested the township keep the International and its snowplow as a back-up, but to sell the spreader, and a water tank and pump at auction. Supervisors voted to approve the idea.

The township wants to sell a small .4 acre parcel fronting the north side of U.S. Route 322 adjacent to Battery Warehouse. The property had been up for sale by auction in late 2006, but no offers met the $10,000 minimum bid set by the township; the highest bid was $7,200.

This time, the land will not offered at auction, but by the township directly, Vossburg said.

Supervisors also…

lAppointed Gene Dearth to fill a vacancy on the Paint-Elk Joint Sewer Authority. Dearth will replace Terry Dunkle.

lVoted to add the second phase of the Evergreen Estates housing development to the township street lighting district. The area to be added involves one street and eight lots.

The township will provide street lighting and will assess homeowners in the district a street lighting tax of .02 mills to cover costs.

lVoted unanimously to donate $500 to the Clarion County Little League.

lAgreed to send a letter of support for Clarion Borough’s application for a recreation grant from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

The grant would be used for projects at Paul A. Weaver Park and the marina and boat launch near Toby Bridge.
