Diggin' dinosaurs

Clarion Area Elementary School first-graders in Traci Blazosky’s class acted as paleontologists April 23 as they searched the front of the elementary school for ancient dinosaur eggs. After each student uncovered an egg they carefully returned to the classroom and worked open each egg with a toothpick  in order to reveal a baby dinosaur. The students used books to identify their dinosaurs before writing a creative story that used facts about that particular species. Pictured here from left, Kaylie Lutz, Jacob Smith and Sarah Ziegler discover their dinosaur eggs. The “eggs” were made of a combination of water, sand, flour, salt and coffee grinds to give them an authentically ancient look.
