General News Clarion Area approves retirements
CLARION - Two Clarion Area teachers with a combined 51
years of experience in the district will retire at the end of this school year. The Clarion Area school board accepted, with regrets, the
letters of retirement from vocal music teacher and choral director Allison
Noble, and industrial arts teacher Gary Weckerly at the board’s recent
meeting. Noble and Weckerly have been with the district for 16 and
35 years, respectively. In other business
the board: Approved the request of Christina Murdock for a leave of
absence using a combination of sick days and family medical leave beginning at
the start of next school year and continuing through Awarded contracts for general school, office, and art
supplies to Kurtz Brothers, Bye Mor Incorporated, Standard Stationary Supply,
Pyramid School Supplies, The Tree House Incorporated, and CDW Government
Incorporated. Awarded contracts for custodial supplies to Janitors Supply
Incorporated, and Kurtz Brothers. Accepted the resignation of DJ Bevevino as Athletic
Director, and Patti Bevevino as Assistant Athletic Director. Added Mark Stinson, elementary; Mark Weaver, elementary,
biology, and general science; Susan Kahle, aide; and Dawn Klein Aide; to the
substitute list. Approved a resolution opposing the proposed state High
School Graduation Competency Assessments. Approved a resolution to continue looking into a possible
sale of district tax claims. Approved a resolution to refinance the district’s 2003
General Obligation Bond if a target savings of $50,000 can be achieved.
