Richard C. ‘Rich’ Wells

Enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball

CLARION – Richard C. “Rich” Wells, 77, of Chestnut Street , Clarion, a retired employee of Owens-Illinois, died Monday, May 5, 2008 , in the Golden Living Center of Clarion.

Born August 7, 1930 , in Distant, he was a son of George W. and Carrie Bish Wells.

He was married May 10, 1952 , to the former Betty Hanlon, and she survives.

Mr. Wells retired in 1992 from the forming department of Owens-Illinois, where he had 32 years of service. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Owens-Illinois.

Mr. Wells was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army.

He was a Protestant.

Mr. Wells was a member of Masonic Lodge 277 of Clarion, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening and golf. He also enjoyed his grandchildren and watching them play baseball.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Patti Wells of Shippenville, Rick Wells and his wife, Kim, of Statesville, N.C., and Rod Wells and his wife, Kathy, of Miola; six grandchildren, Jamie, Betsy and Gretchen Wells, all of North Carolina, Tim Wells and his finance, Katie Londo, of Clementon, N.J., Ben Wells and his wife, Ashley, of Falls Church, Va., and Shane Wells of Miola; two brothers, Ken Wells of New Bethlehem and Bob Wells of Tonawanda, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Kelly Elizabeth; and two sisters, Ruth Blair and Ruby Allen.

Visitation was held Thursday May 8, 2008 , at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.

Funeral services were held Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Leonard Goughler, pastor of the New Athens Church of God in Rimersburg, officiating.

Interment was in Cedarview Memorial Park at Strattanville.

Memorials may be made to the Golden Living Center , Clarion.

MARIENVILLE – James A. Barto, 62, of Marienville, a veteran of the Vietnam War, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 , at Kahle Lake in Clarion County while he was launching his boat.

MAYPORT – Scott R. Bish, 42, of Mayport, died Tuesday evening, May 6, 2008 , from injuries he received in an automobile accident in Limestone Township , Clarion County .

NEW BETHLEHEM – Gerald Oren Brocious, 75, of Beautiful Lookout, New Bethlehem, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 , in his home.

James C. Lutz

LATROBE – James C. Lutz, 74, of Blairsville, died Monday, May 5, 2008 , at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital , Latrobe. Born April 9, 1934 , in Lucinda, he was the son of the late Arthur E. and Anna E. Porter Lutz.

Lloyd A. Smith

DUBOIS – Lloyd A. Smith, 77, of Summerville, died Friday afternoon, May 9, 2008 , at DuBois Regional Medical Center .

William W. Wilson

EMLENTON – William W. Wilson, 69, of Gas Line Lane , Emlenton, Rockland Township , died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, May 7, 2008 .

Jennie F. Woods

SHIPPENVILLE – Jennie F. Woods, 97, of Venus, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 , at the Golden Living Center , Shippenville.

Kenneth D. Wurster

SLIGO – Kenneth D. Wurster, 50, of Knox, a veteran of the Vietnam War, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 , at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center , following a lengthy illness.
