Former employee of Clarion University

SHIPPENVILLE – Muriel J. Reed, 87, of Clarion, died early Saturday morning, October 4, 2008 , at Golden Living in Shippenville.

Born April 19, 1921 , in Foxburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Hannah Tonks Reed.

Ms. Reed was a 1939 graduate of St. Petersburg–Richland High School.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion.

Ms. Reed was employed for many years at Clarion University and retired in 1984.

Ms. Reed is survived by two sisters, Marilyn Reed of Foxburg and Gloria R. Burns and her husband, Edward, of Shippenville; a brother, Richard Reed and his wife, Sally, of Pleasantville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Alice Murray, Gertrude Foust, Adda Horton, Clara Gardner, and Margaret Reed; and a brother, William Reed.

Friends were received Monday, October 6, 2008 , at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove Street , St. Petersburg .

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2008, in the funeral home with the Rev. Harold Jacobson, pastor Grace Lutheran Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Foxburg Cemetery .

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice.
