Judith ‘Judy’ W. Gerhart

Spent her early years in Clarion

CHARLOTTE , N.C. – Judith W. “Judy” Gerhart, 66, of Charlotte , N.C. , passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 22, 2008 , at Duke Medical Center , surrounded by her family. 

Born January 30, 1942 , in Kittanning, she was the second daughter of Paul and Dorothy Aleen White. She spent her early life in Clarion.

She was married for 45 years to Bill Gerhart and he survives

Mrs. Gerhart was a graduate of Robert Morris Business College and started her career at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, where she met her husband. 

Mrs. Gerhart was a devoted homemaker and mother who gave her energy and love to her family. She enjoyed cooking, the theatre and loved to listen to beautiful music.

In addition to her husband Billy Lynn Gerhart of Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. Gerhart is survived by one sister, Kay Hadley and her husband, William, of Heath, Ohio and one son, Jay Gerhart, and his wife, DeDe, of Gastonia, N.C.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the physicians, caregivers and staff of Duke Medical Center Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Program, who supported her during her courageous fight against leukemia.

Visitation was held Saturday, October 25, 2008 , at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road , Charlotte , N.C.

A funeral service followed the visitation at the funeral home.

A private family burial will be held at Sharon Memorial Gardens .

The family asks that memorials be directed to the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, DUMC, Durham , N.C. , 27710 ; the National Marrow Donor Program, 3433 Broadway St, N.E., Suite 500 , Minneapolis Minn. , 55413 or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, 600 Third Avenue , New York , N.Y. , 10016 .

Harry and Bryant Funeral Services were in charge of arrangements.

SHIPPENVILLE – John H. Bigley Jr., 68, of Oil City , died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 , at Golden Living Center , Shippenville. His survivors include children in the Clarion, Corsica and Shippenville area.

CRANBERRY – Russell E. Cope, 40, of Fryburg, died Saturday, October 25, 2008 , at his residence in Cranberry.

Elsie M. Fenchak

SHIPPENVILLE – Elsie M. Fenchak, 87, of Knox RD , Ninevah, died at 12:45 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 , at Golden Living Center , Shippenville.

William Herring

CLARION – William Herring, 67, of South Eighth Avenue , Clarion, died Thursday, October 23, 2008 , at his residence.

Holly K. McFadden

CLARION – Holly K. McFadden, 49, of Piney Road , Clarion, died Friday, October 24, 2008 , at her home.

Carl McMunn

CLARION – Carl McMunn, 72, of State Route 66, Limestone Township , Clarion, died at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 , at his home.

Daniel R. Moore

CLARION – Daniel R. Moore, 51, of 38 Greenville Avenue , Clarion, died October 21, 2008 , at his residence.

Russell E. Schreckengost

NEW BETHLEHEM – Russell E. “Butch” Schreckengost, 91, of 1085 State Route 1025, New Bethlehem, died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008 , at his home surrounded by his family.

Patty A. Thompson

BRUIN – Patty A. Thompson, 49, of Bruin, mother of Kayla Smith and her husband, Ryan, of Parker, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 , at her residence following an extended illness.

Lauren S. Turk

SENECA – Lauren Sue Turk, 48, of Knox, died Saturday, October 25, 2008 , at UPMC Northwest, Seneca after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
