Peggy Lou Curry Howard

Former Clarion Area teacher

KITTANNING – Peggy Lou Schall Curry Howard, 79, of Clarion, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Kittanning, with her beloved family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born August 30, 1929 , in Plumcreek Township , she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Merle Cribbs Schall.

She was married to J. Allen Curry and they lived in Clarion for over 50 years. She and her husband were world travelers. He passed away in 2002.

She then married Wayne Howard in 2005 and he passed away in 2008.

Mrs. Howard was valedictorian of the class of 1947, at Elderton High School . She graduated in 1951 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She taught school in the Clarion Area schools for 39 years.

Mrs. Howard is survived by two sisters, Joanne Foster and her husband, Charles, of Elderton and Jane Blaney and her husband, Ford, of Indiana, one brother, Raymond Schall and his wife, Margaret, of Kittanning; one uncle, Victor E. Schall of Elderton; two step-children, Tom Howard and his wife, Debbie, of Cecil and Debbie Hale and her husband, David, of Roanoke, Va.; many cousins, nieces and nephews, and special friends, Pauline Wiberg and Josephine Kuhns, both of Clarion and Don and Shirley Sushereba of Strattanville.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2008 , at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street , Clarion, with Rev. Robert Zilhaver officiating.

DUBOIS – Elaine E. Duffee, 77, of Treasure Lake , DuBois, mother of Rev. Kenneth Duffee, the former pastor of the Emlenton United Methodist Church , died Saturday afternoon, November 29, 2008 , at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

Howard Flockerzi

SENECA – Howard L. Flockerzi, 67, a resident of Oil City Presbyterian Home, formerly of Luther Place , Oil City , died at 6 a.m. Thursday, November 27, 2008 , at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. His survivors include a sister, Virginia Wensel and special cousins, Steve and Nicholas Fox and Emily and Laura Flockerzi, all of Venus.

Marie Frasher

LEESVILLE, La. – Marie Olson Frasher, 70, of Leesville , La. , formerly of Clarion, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 , at her residence.

Joseph S. Harvey

OIL CITY – Joseph S. Harvey, 88, of 6 Oakwood Drive , Oil City , a retired banker, died at 5:08 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2008 , at UPMC Northwest, following an extended illness. Among his survivors are two step-children, Philip Sarver and Rita Craig of Clarion.

Stanley E. Klinger

KNOX – Stanley E. “Bub” Klinger, 83, of Knox RD , died at 5 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008 , at his residence.

O. Rebecca Martin

SHIPPENVILLE – O. Rebecca Hirsch Martin, 90, of Kossuth, died Thursday, November 27, 2008 , at Highland Oaks in Shippenville.

James J. Nicklas

WARREN – James J. Nicklas, 67, of Warren , formerly of Marienville, died suddenly Friday, November 28, 2008 , at his home.

Steve Torzok

OIL CITY – Steve Torzok, 58, of Horsecreek Road, Oil City, formerly of Clarion and former employee of Joy Manufacturing, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, at his home after an extended illness.

CLARION – Paul E. Wilson, 73, of Knox, formerly of St. Petersburg , died at 2:07 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2008 , at Clarion Hospital .
