Ground breaking ceremony and special services at Mt. Joy

KNOX – The Mt. Joy United Methodist Church is having a ground breaking ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30 for the addition of their church. The addition will consist of four new Sunday school rooms, addition seating in the sanctuary, two handicapped bathrooms, a pastor’s office and handicapped lift.

Ricky and Barbara Riggs will be guest speakers at special services held at 7 p.m. , March 30, 31 and April 1 at the church. The couple has a dynamic life-centered message for the culture and time. They are pastoring at the River Christian Fellowship and are founders of Oak Springs Ministry.

Missionary to speak

KOSSUTH – Phil Carr, a missionary assigned to Ghana , Africa will speak at 6:30 p.m. , April 4, at the Faith Church of the Nazarene in Kossuth. Carr is working to help church growth and encourage leaders in Ghana to develop growth and disciples. A pot luck dinner precedes the program at 5:30 p.m.

Missionary Deputation service

CLARION – Missionary Phil Carr will visit the Clarion Church of the Nazarene for a deputation service beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5. The service will follow a fellowship dinner at 5:30 p.m. Both are open to the public.

Creation and Evolution seminar

MARIENVILLE – A seminar on “Creation and Evolution” will be held beginning at 10 a.m. April 5 and 5, at the Forest Area Baptist Church in Marienville. Dr. Allen J. Dunckley, Th.D from Glassboro , N.J. will be the guest speaker and seminar leader. A full schedule of events is planned for both days. The seminar and meals are both free, a love offering will be taken towards the cost of the seminar. For more information contact Pastor Pete Zengel at 927-5118.

Alpha Assembly of God

CLARION – Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and regular services begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Alpha Assembly of God church. Rev. Ronald Swanson is the pastor.

Bethany-Crossroads ECC

NICKLEVILLE – Worship services will be held at the 9:30 a.m. March 30, at Bethany Crossroads ECC. The Rev. Chris Lewis is pastor. Heath Lewis will have special music for the service.

Sunday school meets at 10:45 a.m. Bethany Crossroads ECC is located on the corner of Nickleville Road and Bethany Crossroads Road .

Bethany E.C. Church will host an area Singspiration to be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 30.

Bethel Baptist Church

SLIGO – Sunday school classes for all ages meet at 10 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church of Sligo. The regular service begins at 11 a.m. There is junior church for children during the 11 a.m. service.

A Sweet Hearts couple’s marriage class meets at 10 a.m. Sunday. Sunday evening service is held at 6 p.m. Soul winning and visitations are at 1 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Saturdays. Bible study and prayer meeting are held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Nurseries are provided.

Christian Missionary Alliance

EAST BRADY – Rev. Peter Sears delivers the message at the 10:45 a.m. worship service at the East Brady Christian Missionary Alliance Church .

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

Clarion C&MA Church

CLARION – Pastor Keith Allen will bring the message for the 11 a.m. Sunday, March 30, worship service at the Clarion Christian and Missionary Alliance Church .

Clarion Church of the Nazarene

CLARION – Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. and worship services are at 11 a.m. at the Clarion Church of the Nazarene.

The Sunday evening worship service is at 6 p.m. contemporary worship for teens and adults.

The church is located on Mayfield Road , Clarion.

Clarion First Baptist

CLARION – Guest speaker Dr. Tim Bailey will deliver the message for the 9 a.m. worship services at the First Baptist Church . Brenda Dede will be the greeter.

Table Talks, a ministry for college students and young adults follows the 11:15 a.m. service in the fellowship hall. A hot meal is provided followed by an informal discussion about spiritual matters relevant to the lives of young people.

Sunday school is held at 9:45 a.m. with classes for all ages.

The EDGE youth group meets from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Celebrate Recovery, a fellowship and accountability group, meets at 7 p.m. every Tuesday in the church library.

Prayer meeting is held at 7 p.m. , Wednesdays in the church library.

Kid’s Club for children age 4 through grade 6 meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays in the fellowship hall.

Clarion First UMC

CLARION – Dr. Rev. Deryl Larsen will deliver the message “Found of God” at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. service Sunday, March 30, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion.

Alexis Fiscus and Paige Wolfe will be the acolytes and Helen and Bill McElravy and Maggie Karns will be the greeters.

Children’s Sunday school includes children’s choir from 9:30 to 10 a.m. , Sunday school for all ages from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. and children’s time during 11 a.m. worship services.

The evening worship service is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26.

The youth is a big part of the First United Methodist Church ministry. They meet at 6:30 p.m. Sundays in the downstairs youth room. Special upcoming events include: April 19, roller skating.

The annual spring rummage sale will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. April 9; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 10 and 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. April 11 (a $1/small bag and $2/large bag sale will be held on Friday.)

The 7-12 grade breakfast will be held April 6 at the County Seat. The group will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the tower room.

The midweek service will be held at 7 p.m. April 2.

Clarion Free Methodist

CLARION – The Clarion Free Methodist Church will observe morning worship of word and table at 11 a.m. , March 30. Pastors Rev. Linda Schwab and Margaret Flowers lead the service. The sermon is titled “Having Doubts” Bob Hays will be the lay reader.

A time of prayer and meditation will be held from 10:20 to 10:40 beginning March 30. A time of fellowship will be held from 10:40 to 11 a.m. , all are welcome.

The bi-weekly services will be held at 5:15 p.m. , April 2.

The biweekly Wednesday gathering for scripture and prayer meets for fellowship at 12:30 p.m. and study of Revelation at 1 p.m. , at Michele’s Café on Main Street . The next session is April 2.

Faith Church of the Nazarene

KOSSUTH – Sunday school, is at 9:30 a.m. Worship begins at 10:45 a.m. with guest speaker Rev. Scott Mapes delivering the message. Freda Gruber will present a piano music special.

Sunday evening Bible study and singing will be held at 6 p.m.

Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. a prayer meeting will be held. The youth will also meet.

Missionary Phil Carr from Africa will be guest speaker following a pot luck dinner at 5:30 p.m. , April 4.

Faith Lutheran Church

VENUS – Worship services are held at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church . Don Horner will be the assisting minister at the 8 a.m. service and Jerid Kerle will be the acolyte. Scott Daum will assist at the 10:30 a.m. service and Tanner Guth will be the acolyte for the 10:30 a.m. service. Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m.

Fellowship Baptist Church

EMLENTON – Fellowship Baptist Church holds worship services at 11 a.m. Sunday and Sunday school is at 10 a.m.

Sunday evening services are at 6:30 p.m.

A prayer meeting, “Teens for Christ” and “Master Clubs” are held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Fern Trinity EC

FERN – The message will be delivered at 9:30 a.m. for the Sunday, March 30 worship service. A staffed nursery is available during the worship service. Barney Knorr will be the worship leader and Jim and Erna Webb will be the greeters.

Children’s and adult Sunday school begins at 10:45 a.m.

First Presbyterian

CLARION – Sunday worship begins at 10 a.m. Interim Pastor Dr. Kate Irish-Filer will deliver the message. Nursery care will be provided during worship in the new nursery location. Joe Burns is the lay reader and Brian Dunn, organist and the adult choir will provide music. The church will observe Prayer Covenant Sunday. Sunday’s service will be broadcast on the Clarion radio station.

Teen church with Butch and Nancy Campbell will meet during Sunday school time this Sunday.

Fundamental Baptist Church

ST. PETERSBURG – Rev. Olin N. Race will deliver the message “The Christian Hope and Rejoicing” at the 11 a.m. March 30, service at the Fundamental Baptist Church . Sandra Blauser is the pianist.

Sunday school with classes for children, teens and adults begins at 10 a.m.

Sunday evening services are at 6 p.m. The sermon is “The Things a Wise Person Knows.”

Bible study and prayer meeting is at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Good Shepherd UMC

LEEPER – The worship service is at 10 a.m. , March 30, at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Leeper.

Sunday school begins at 9 a.m.

Grace ECC

NINEVAH – Worship services are at 8:30 and 11 a.m. March 30, at the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Ninevah. Sunday school meets at 9:45 a.m. with classes for all ages. Children’s and junior churches are held during the preaching portion of the services. Ashlegh Bennett and Adam McHenry will provide special music for both services.

Immaculate Conception

CLARION – The anticipated mass for the second Sunday of Easter is at 5:30 March 29, at Immaculate Conception Church. Sunday morning masses are at 7:30 , 9 and 11:15 a.m. The 9 a.m. mass will be broadcast on WWCH Radio.

Religious education classes are at 10:15 a.m. Sunday morning for pre-school through grade six; classes for grades 7 through 11 are at 6:30 p.m.

Kingsville UMC

KINGSVILLE – Rev. Bill Saxman delivers the morning message at the 10 a.m. March 30 worship service at the Kingsville UMC. This is a charge worship service followed by a covered dish dinner.

Knox United Methodist

KNOX – The Knox United Methodist Church will hold worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Pastor Poole will speak from Ephesians 4 “Living Real Forgiveness.” Joyce Eakin will lead the 8:15 a.m. worship and Shelly Seth will lead the 10:45 a.m. service.

Living Church International

SIGEL – The Sigel United Methodist Charge is a cooperative of four churches. Pastor Gary Sheesley invites the public to attend.

Fisher United Methodist Church is not holding services at the present time.

Zion United Methodist Church holds Sunday worships services at 9:45 a.m. Sunday school begins at 8:45 a.m.

Sligo Church of the Nazarene

SLIGO – Pastor John Panneton will deliver the message at the 10 a.m. , Sunday service at the Sligo Church of the Nazarene. Sunday school begins at 9 a.m.

An evening Bible study hour is held from 6 to 7 p.m. , Sunday evenings.

Sligo Presbyterian

SLIGO – Sligo Presbyterian Church’s worship service is at 10 a.m. and Sunday school, with classes for all ages is at 9 a.m. Coffee and tea is available before and during Sunday school and worship. Pastor Stephanie Weaver delivers the message.

Worship service includes traditional hymns as well as praise songs. Components of the service are projected onto a large screen. Children are always welcome in the service, but for those who wish to take advantage of it, children’s church is offered during the worship hour for pre-school through age 8, and a cry room is also available.

Sligo UMC

SLIGO – Pastor Richard Russell will deliver the message at the 9:45 a.m. March 30, worship service at Sligo United Methodist Church .

Debbie McDowell will be the greeter and Raine Merryman is the pianist.

St. Mark Memorial Chapel

KOSSUTH – Pastor Pamela Mansfield speaks at the 9:30 a.m. worship service. Susan Ogden will be the organist. The church is non-denominational. The public is invited to attend. The church is located at 539 St. Mark’s Road in Kossuth.

MONROE – Worship services and junior church are at 10 a.m. March 30, at the St. Mark UCC. Pastor Nancy Flick Dunmire delivers the message “Seeing Isn’t Believing” for the second Sunday of Easter. 

The choir will present the octavo “Your Grace is all I Need” under the direction of Julia Shoup. Shirley Ziegler is the church organist. Junior church leaders, Julie Shoup and Bonnie Oakes will present “What Did Jesus Promise his Friends.” Laura Belle Standish is the greeter and Cassie Nugent is acolyte, Dennis Raybuck will be lay reader. Tom and Brenda Butler will present the altar flowers in memory of John and Elizabeth Jadlocki.

St. Paul Lutheran

WENTLINGS CORNERS – St. Paul Lutheran Church located on Twin Church Road outside of Knox holds its worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Rev. Karen D. Parsh will deliver the message.

St. Paul UCC

KNOX – Guest speaker, Charlie Cotherman delivers the message at the 9:30 a.m. , March 30, worship service at St. Paul UCC. June Ditty will serve as greeter and Danielle Shettler serves as acolyte.

The midweek Bible study will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 2.

St. John Lutheran

Strattanville UMC

STRATTANVILLE – The Strattanville United Methodist Charge is a cooperative of three churches; Asbury, Corsica and Strattanville. Rev. Julie Applegate will deliver the message.

Corsica United Methodist Church holds services at 8:45 a.m. Sunday school will be at 10 a.m.

Bible study is at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at Strattanville.  

Asbury United Methodist Church worship service will be at 9:50 a.m. Sunday school will be at 8:45 a.m.

Strattanville United Methodist Church worship service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

Summerville UMC

SUMMERVILLE – Rev. William Saxman will deliver the message at the 10 a.m. , March 30, charge worship service at Kingsville UMC. Sunday school will not be held this week.

Tylersburg UMC Charge

TYLERSBURG – The Tylersburg United Methodist Charge is a cooperative of three churches – Tylersburg, Helen Furnace and Scotch Hill - under the pastorate of Pastor J. Mark Hurst. Worship services are: 8:30 a.m. at Tylersburg UMC; 9:45 a.m. at Helen Furnace UMC; and 10:45 a.m. at Scotch Hill UMC with Sunday school beginning at 10 a.m.

United Evangelical

VENUS – The United Evangelical Church will hold its 9 a.m. worship service Sunday, March 30. The AWANA Clubbers will participate in the service.

Evan Asche will be the acolyte and Michael and Carrie O’Brien will be the greeters.

Victory Praise and Worship Center

ROSEVILLE – The Victory Praise and Worship Center Praise Team will have services at 10:30 a.m. , Sunday. Calvin Davie is the pastor. 

Children’s church is held from 11 to 11:45 a.m. every Sunday.

Corporate prayer will be at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, and Sunday school is held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday evening services are held at 6 p.m.

A ladies Bible study is held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesdays and Bible study is at 7 p.m. Wednesdays.

At 8 a.m. Saturdays, a prayer breakfast is held, everyone is welcome.

Zion Baptist Church

CLARION – All are invited for the new series “Crash: When Hope Meets Uncertainty” for the 9 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 30, worship services at the Zion Baptist Church . During the five week series, Pastor Kirkland will look at Psalms 42 and 43 to find a biblical response when live comes at you fast and suddenly everything is changed.

Worship services feature live music, video clips and inspiring messages. Adult Bible Fellowships are also a great way to build relationships within small group settings. Children’s ministry is provided for both services.

At 10:30 a.m. Zion ’s Garage Gang for grades kindergarten through fourth-grade incorporates  games, skits and fun music for boys and girls to learn Biblical truth at their level. Zone 56 provides relevant truths targeted to meet the needs of fifth and sixth grade students. On Sunday nights the “garage” is open from 6-8 p.m. for grades 7 through 12.
