More questions about the WCO
By Marty Rakovan, Brookville

Looks like WTAE-TV must have hit a sore spot with the Game Commission as to having their public relation person try to save face with the public.

Jerry Feaser made some statements in a March 20 Clarion News letter to the editor that raises a few questions.

Here he is blaming some, if not all, of the problems concerning Wildlife Conservation Officer Rodney Bimber’s conduct on elected officials.

Jerry Feaser and WCO Bimber where hired by the game commission, not elected by the people of the commonwealth. They do not answer to “the people,” just their hired or appointed “boss”.

The Clarion University students issue still has some questions that should be answered.

Now let’s see, swimming and the Clarion River both deal with water. Now how come WCO Bimber did not contact his counter part in the Fish and Boat Commission to handle this?

Would seem to fall under the Fish and Boat Commission rules and regulations.

As to the comment of  “suspicion of underage drinking,” did the WCO do a field sobriety test or breath test? Or was it in his opinion that they had to be drinking?

Were these people cited for drinking and convicted or just an excuse for the WCO to assert his authority?

Besides, if you do not have the money to fight a bogus citation, it’s cheaper just to pay it.

As to the issue of horseback riding on Game Lands 283, I would guess that there was a “gentleman’s agreement” in the past about crossing a corner of this game land.

And that is what it is, crossing over a small piece of ground. The comments from the PR person from the game commission regarding this issue would almost lead you to believe that the horseback riding was over the entire 283 game lands, not crossing a small corner of it.

There is a lot of he said, they said going on with this WCO officer. Maybe it would be smart for the game commission to hold a public meeting about this issue instead of having the PR person tries to cover up or mislead the public on it.

Let the people have all the facts, so they can decide on who or what is at fault. Then work to have them corrected.

There has to be something going on here, because a major Western Pennsylvania television usually do not waste their time on something that is not based if some sort of fact.
